What is the most number of non-overlapping tiles of the given form that can be used to cover a 6×6 board?

    (Disclaimer: I didn’t get this one. I just wrote, “It’s probably 7.” I got this from someone who placed from my school.)

    Four-color checkerboarding (like that done in some of the previous rounds) shows that it’s at most 8. There’s a way to do it with 8 by leaving out all the corners. I just checked, and there’s a solution leaving out the corners that has point-symmetry with rotation by 90 degrees, so just try it.
